After reconfirming his title as the Italian Welterweight Champion on October 10, 2025, by defeating Antonio Licata, the undefeated Michele De Filippo resumes his rise to the international stage by facing Spanish-licensed Venezuelan José Jonathan Hernandez for the WBC Mediterranean Welterweight title on September 11, 2026.
The event will be organized by Spagnoli Sabbatini Production, which will aim to have the San Severo-born boxer replicate the achievements he once achieved against World Champion Luigi Castiglione.
Castiglione, who currently trains and mentors Michele De Filippo, successfully fought for the Super Flyweight World title at the San Severo Sports Hall against both South Africans Abbey Mnisi and Mzukisi Sikali, as well as Argentine Jose Humberto Lagos.
After 13 wins, 8 of which were by the limit, the decision was made to raise the bar in the match against the Venezuelan, who certainly boasts greater experience having played a total of 19 matches, 17 of which he won.

L’evento sarà organizzato dalla Spagnoli Sabbatini Production che cercherà di far ripercorrere al pugile sanseverese quanto ottenuto a suo tempo con il Campione del Mondo Luigi Castiglione.
Castiglione, che oggi allena e seguirà all’angolo Miche De Filippo, nel Palasport di San Severo ha infatti combattuto vittoriosamente per il titolo mondiale dei pesi Supermosca sia contro i sudafricani Abbey Mnisi e Mzukisi Sikali che contro l’argentino Jose Humberto Lagos.
Dopo 13 incontri vinti, di cui ben 8 prima del limite, la decisione di alzare l’asticella il match contro il Venezuelano che vanta sicuramente una maggiore esperienza avendo disputato un totale di 19 match di cui ben 17 vinti.
